WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE CO. (WOLF) — Where creativity blooms together, the Diamond City Flower Show and Vendor Market celebrated its first year.

Florology hosted the event and it offered everything from handmade goods to community groups, bouquets, plants, and more.

As petals met passion, Mollie Kuhar from the florist shop Florology shared where the idea sparked to start the first-ever flower show in the Public Square.

“My mother, Tiffany Kuhar she owns Florology. She’s actually opening a shop down the street. So, we love Diamond City. We love Wilkes-Barre. So, this was our attempt at getting some vendors out here. Flowers, getting the word out,” said Kuhar.

Spotlighting unique stems of business, Kuhar explained that the market was full of local talent.

“We have a lot of local stuff. We have a local flower farmer across the square. We have us. The focus here is local. That’s our main focus. It’s really important to us. Our flowers. Those candles were selling, that’s a local business in Pittston. We get most of our flowers locally. So, the big idea. Get people out, get local businesses, small businesses going,” said Kuhar.

Turning heads with bright and colorful bouquets, owner Lauren Pollman from 138 Blooms described her floral designs.

“So, my business is 138 Blooms, and I’m just a fresh-cut flower farm out of Mountain Top. And so, we’re down here to sell some fresh-cut flower bouquets today,” said Pollman.

Rooting and planting support in small local businesses is needed in the community, said Pollman and Kuhar.

“Any time that you can get the community out to support small businesses. It’s so huge. Right now, with the way that things are going, with prices increasing, any little bit that you can make as a small business owner helps. So, the support from the community is immense,” said Lauren Pollman.

“I think a community is built off of small businesses. So, if you’re a resident or your local here, support your community by supporting your local businesses,” said Kuhar.
