These guys built a nest outside my front door and have been hanging out there for a few months. They’ve not bothered us at all. It’s cool to watch them. I’ve also seen them around the yard pollinating globemallows, esperanzas, and pumpkins!

I have NEVER been stung by a paper wasp.

Yellow jackets on the other hand….

I didn’t know what this was! I just saw some on my pumpkins. Do they also eat pests?

Absolutely lovely guests. They have made nests under my porch for several years. Will come down to say hello when I’m sitting out in the evening.

When the kids hatch they flounder around a little bit like Woodstock (Snoopy’s bird friend), so I get them to a high place to jump from and off they go.

They are also respectful of territory, so if you leave an empty nest alone others won’t build near it. If you want them back, get rid of the empty nest.
