The annual show at the town’s Caddlehill Allotments was once again a popular community occasion with lots of visitors coming along to see the fantastic and colourful entries.
This year the show also welcomed a host of new members who have recently taken over plots and who took part in the event.
They have enjoyed discovering the joys of planting and growing, taking tips from some of the longer serving members.

Tele gardener George Irvine, who is a long-standing supporter of Caddlehill, said: “They had a great day and there were lots of entries.
“They have had some new members this year so that has made it really interesting.
“It is always well supported.”

The ‘best in show’ prize was won by Anne Mannion with her outstanding coleus pot plant.
The achievements of the Caddlehill gardeners are all the more notable this year since, alongside growing flowers, fruits and vegetables they hope will be good enough to win a show prize, they’ve also had to grapple with getting the site back on its feet after Storm Eowyn in January caused major damage to many of the plots and greenhouses.

They secured two awards from the Inverclyde Windfarm Fund and Invergrow Resource Fund to help them get back on their feet as well as support from Parklea Branching Out.
Caddlehill Allotments in Kelly Street, was set up in 1855 and offers 36 plots to people living in the local community who wouldn’t otherwise have their own garden.
