So, my friend got gifted a flower shop terrarium but he put it in a way too dark place and one of the three plants, that. I can't identify, is gone. The other two are pretty clearly fittonia and fennel moss. I will prune the seemingly dead plant and hope it will sprout again, otherwise I will replace it with a Peperomia. Any hope?

Need help identifying a mold or fungus? That can only be achieved using professional sampling methods and laboratory analysis. Your environment is too wet. if it’s a wet environment purposely it needs ventilation.
Have you checked out our [resource page](https://www.reddit.com/r/terrariums/wiki/index/resources/)?

I forgot! This terrarium has no fauna. Likely because it’s from a flower shop. Should I add them?
I tried to look up “fennel moss”, does it have another name?
I think it looks like an “asparagus fern” (not a real fern). If it is an asparagus fern, they like a lot of light, (full sun, actually).
I think the dead plant resembles a regular fern. And its fuzzy appearance makes me suspect it got moldy from misting at some point. I think it would be fine to remove.
If you add a Peperomia, note that the thin leafed species like the humidity of a terrarium. The thick leafed species are more dry-tolerant like a succulent.
If you’re not sure about what plant to add yet, you could also add some decorative item instead.
