I picked up this Monstera Burle Marx Flame as a tiny baby last winter for $64. Since then it’s really taken off, especially once it rooted into the moss pole, it’s growing fast now.

That said, the leaves are looking a lot wider than what I’d expect from a BMF. I could be wrong (and hopefully I am!), but I’m starting to wonder if this is actually just a regular Deliciosa.

For comparison, I have another baby BMF with much narrower leaves, which is what makes me question this one.

Curious what you all think?? Could this be a wider-leaf form of BMF, or did I end up with something else?

You might have been scammed, doesn’t really look like BMF

BMF leaves are a lot more sharp in their point. It’s a beautiful plant regardless!

You can buy a BMF on Walmart.com for $33 and 1 yr return if something is wrong with that plant

I’m actually confused. It’s not a BMF. But it has pleated leaves and grows like a small form (borsigiana) but deliciosa does not have those pronounced lines (pleats) in the leaf. No sheath so it’s not philo.

It’s probably common lol but I have no idea what that is.

🎼 music when in doubt, we grow it out 🎶

Is that the tag they sold it with? I’d take it back in there.

Not the Mystery plant for $64 😭🥹😡

  8. It’s not a bmf for sure, the growth looks odd though. Hang on to that and see what it is!

So it’s definitely not a BMF, But I also don’t think it’s a deliciosa or borsigiana. Looking at it, based on veining, leaf shape, and the “visual texture” (hopefully you understand what I mean, I just woke up lol) you might have a Monstera tacanaensis.

Not a BMF. If I recall correctly, there was a large batch of bmf tissue cultures that were mislabeled. They were actually monstera sierrana. This was from a large tc lab and a lot of sellers ended up with that batch. This could be from that mislabeled batch. If so it could be a sierrana, which would be awesome! You’ll have to grow it larger to tell though. I recommend giving it even more light than you are currently because the leaves should be getting bigger faster.

Hopefully it’s a sierrana and not just a regular green deliciosa.

Could be deliciosa v. Sienna, or could be Monstera sp. Ecuador.

Could be any number of other things too though.

I’d label it monstera noid for now and wait to see if it makes it any clearer when it matures up in a year or two.

    Definitely not a bmf though.
