Hello! This scraggly lil plant has been hanging on in my front yard for years. It suddenly is growing a beautiful purple flower! I believe it is because I finally watered it.

Reverse image search has given me the answer of Rose of Sharon, Hibiscus, or Rhododendron. None of the images I found look quite identical though. Can anyone help?

My first thought was althea, which is another name for rose of sharon. The leaves and the upright nature of the growth, the color all very similar. The flower does not look quite like what I’m used to, but maybe it’s a different variety. I have one in my yard that’s started blooming again too.
