I just bought my first African Violet after watching this sub! I found it at a grocery store. Can anyone tell if this is a baby standard or a miniature? Or trailing or not? Report or keep in original pot? Thank you! 12 inch ruler for measurements in photos.

Also the pot it came in is currently 4in

So beautiful! I would not repot at this time. It looks like the pot it’s in is the correct size for it.

I think those are called noid as in no id. I have a couple of miniatures that are noids.

If it came from a grocery store there’s a chance it’s one of the Optimara plants, but generally if it didn’t come with a specific name or lost the name somewhere, it’s called a noid or no id. Nothing wrong with that though, she’s real cute with those magenta red blossoms!

Grocery store noid is how I also got in to violets, they’re addictive little plants to collect if you enjoy all the different shapes the leaves and flowers can be, not to mention all the colours and varigation.

First, A lovely color. I think it is a standard. Not a mini or a trailer. Leave it in the pot it is in now, that is the correct size of pot for the plant. In six months or a year, repot it it, in the same pot, changing out the potting mix to refresh it. Best of Luck.

From what I can tell it’s a viola hederacea.
