My custom account is too new, so reposting from my main.
I'm trying to get the City to approve a new community garden in the Onion Creek Greenbelt south location. I need 3 or more people to join the planning committee as well as people to state their interest in using a plot.
Proposed locations are in the park area bordering S. Pleasant Valley Rd – Shady Cedar Ln. If approved, I plan to apply for federal/local grants to cover as much as possible.
If you're interested, even a little bit, please fill out this survey so I can add it to the application. https://forms.gle/Pg6GZTAAxQibAYD66
If PARD approves it, there'll be more planning steps before implementation, but I've already got the ball rolling on site plan drafts, projected costs, funding sources, and soil testing. I'm hoping to have everything ready for Spring.
The pictures are the proposed location drafts, which can be adjusted based on committee/community input. The basic concept is raised beds for rent, a greenhouse and tool shed for members, communal herb garden, vegetable garden, orchard, and seating areas for anyone. Some spaces will be fenced and some will not. Water will be provided by 4 storage tanks and supplemented by a City tap. Irrigation lines and timers to be used, if possible.
The park already has really great trails and high foot traffic, so I think this garden would get a lot of use and be a very cool addition to the community.
Thank you.
