Hi, I’m looking at converting my sloped yard to a Pennsylvania sedge yard (Pennsylvania/7a) does anyone have any recommendations on spacing ? Different sources have different recommendations, would like it a little bit dense to keep weeds and ivy away.

Pennsylvania 7A, image of my sloped eroded front lawn id like to cover with Pennsylvania sedge.

What are your thoughts on matrixing in some other shade loving plants to go with the PA sedge? I love a columbine and maybe virginia bluebells combo- maybe with some other native sedges… But that’s bc I don’t love how PA sedges flop over … But that’s my preference, and it’s not my yard 💚
But on to your question, the nursery guy told me 2 plants per sq. ft.

I’ve read that it’s hard to start penn sedge from seed and buying it as plugs and planting densely enough to keep out weeds gets pricey fast. However it does look lovely and is low maintenance. I’ve planted 6-8 inches apart and still getting some weeds in between as it fills in.
