MONTCLAIR, NJ — Interested in starting an organic vegetable garden? Want to find out more about composting? Seeking opportunities to volunteer in a community garden or a local organization? Looking for fun activities for kids? An upcoming “Harvest Day” in Montclair might be right up your alley.

The Northeast Earth Coalition (NEEC) will host the Montclair Harvest Day celebration from 3 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 6 at Crane Park (Glenridge Avenue and Greenwood Avenue). The event is free and open to the public. Learn more here.

According to the nonprofit, here’s what to expect:

Children’s crafts and a scavenger hunt Tours of the Crane Park Pollinator Garden Displays of locally grown organic produce Tabling by local gardening, environmental, and mutual aid groups Q&A with a Certified Master Gardener on sustainable organic gardening techniques Community Circle for sharing gardening experiences and recipes.A food drive to collect non-perishable items for the NEEC Free Little Pantries, which provide free food for neighbors in need in 18 locations in five local towns
