The garden was designed to support local biodiversity and encourage collaboration.

The area is home to more than 150 plant species, which bloom all year.

These were selected to attract pollinators such as bees and butterflies.

The garden also features a bug hotel to provide shelter for insects.

Paths made from recycled resin, equivalent to 275,000 plastic straws, wind through the area.

Matt Harrington, head of Cornwall Innovation Centres, said: “Our vision was to design a garden that goes beyond aesthetics—a space where innovation and nature work hand in hand.

“It’s a reflection of our ongoing commitment to sustainability, wellbeing, and collaboration, and it’s already becoming a go-to spot for our customers to connect and recharge.”

The project was delivered in partnership with local businesses Oltco and Hayle Plants.

Oltco carried out the groundworks and installed the resin-bound pathway, while Hayle Plants provided the topsoil, supplied the plants and installed the colourful displays.

The Pool Innovation Centre is part of the Cornwall Innovation Centres, which also include the Health and Wellbeing Innovation Centre in Truro and the Tremough Innovation Centre in Penryn.

Last month, the Pool Innovation Centre celebrated 15 years of supporting the region’s entrepreneurs, start-ups, and scale-ups.
