My Yucca was my favourite plant. The first gift of my new house. It was the first thing I see coming home and it bring me joy being so green and lust.
I don't know what I did wrong, probably when the heatwave hit I watered it too much, or maybe it was too hot in my home. Anyhow… I'm sorry… You deserved better 🙁
Ps the sanseveria is doing great, it has new leaf too!

Oh no, it looks like it melted! I’m so sorry.
Are you sure it’s dead ?:(
it might not be completely dead. dont give up yet. also, not sure what kind of yucca but these live outside all over az and its very hot and dry out here. it could have been due to over watering.
Aww, nooo. Hopefully, it’s not dead. Check the roots. My yucca gets watered the 1st of every month. I leave it in a bucket of water for about 3 hours and then let it drain, and then I pop it back in it’s decorative pot. I live on the south west cost of Scotland, so it does live in my living room with not too much light. I wish you all the best, and I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you
I think it’s just been overwatered; fingers crossed that it’ll come back. Just ignore it for a month or so! 😉
Definitely overwatering is my guess. I water mine less than once a month. They do like to be rootbound.
I’d agree with others in the comments, OP. Your yucca may still be salvageable and not yet dead. I hope she can pull through and it’s still okay to be sad
Please tell me how you did it so I can do the same to the ones I can’t kill in my garden…
that’s not dead, imo. sad and close to dead, not dead. you can still save the guy.
I actually don’t think it’s dead. A lot of folks see wilting or drooping and assume it’s beyond hope, but in my experience as a clearance plant rescuer, if it has green on it, it’s worth trying to diagnose and treat!
That looks like a dragon tree, not a yucca?
I thought I killed one and then it produced a little baby from the trunk. I cut it off and rooted it and now its thriving!
I don’t think that’s a yucca
I don’t know if that’s dead-dead. It may be salvageable.
I would put it outside. Let it dry out.
This happened to me and I put it outside so I could take it out of the pot and reuse the pot. I completely forgot about it and it put out brand new shoots and now it’s bigger and happier than ever. There’s still hope!
Are you sure that’s a yucca? Looks like a type of dracaena marginata to me
Looks like overwatering
I have a shield aralia that I struggled with to get it to branch and fill out. One day it just dropped all its leaves. I put it outside at my potting station to dump it and got distracted. 3 weeks later I discover it had put out DOZENS of new branch sites, with little itty bitty leaves
My neighbor behind has one of these. Every summer, I watch it wither and die in the summer heat. Every winter, the rains come and save it.
Set it outside in the shade to dry out and don’t give up!
That’s a Yucca cane (Yucca elephantipes/Yucca gigantea)🌿. They’re super tough plants but also very easy to overwater. Yuccas naturally grow in dry environments, so they store water in their thick trunks. Best care tip: let the soil dry out almost completely before watering again. On a moisture meter, you can wait until it’s down around 1–2 (dry) before giving it a good soak. Too much water is usually what kills them.
They love bright light, and if you can give it some direct sun indoors, it’ll be happiest.
If the trunk/stem is still green and firm, your Yucca isn’t dead 🌱. Yuccas are super resilient and as long as there’s green in the stem, it can push out new growth. Just cut back on watering and give it plenty of light, and let it bounce back.
My yucca died too, I’m sending you moral support vibes ✨
I did the same (I think I over watered it in winter/spring). Put it out in the heat and ignored it for a month planning to toss it and suddenly – new growth!
I agree with some others commenting- I don’t think all is lost!
Inspecting the root, cutting off the rot and placing in new soil- I think there’s a strong chance she’ll make it!
If the soil is wet, repot it into new soil to prevent root rot.
So strange. Yucca leaves but dracaena structure?
Put it in the sun and keep watering it sparely. You’d be surprised what come back.
I thought my oxalis died and I was devastated. I had bought it shortly before my loved one died and I cherished it so much because it was alive when he was. The entire thing just died out within a day.
Turns out it was basically sitting in a bucket of water. I cried. Left it alone. Cried more. It’s not thriving again and also growing flowers!
She is starting to rot. You are better off rerooting her in a mix of 50% perlite and 50% potting soil (There are better ones you can do, but this is probably the cheapest.)
Do a much smaller pot, water once in the new mix, and give her better light, like full on direct sun if possible.
Most yuccas I see indoors aren’t getting enough light.
Even if it got root rot from overwatering in that store pot soil, the top can often be rooted using rooting hormone (heck I rooted one my cat tipped and broke by putting the leafy cutting in a cup of water on the windowsill). If the trunk isn’t smooshy, there is something salvageable there.
Keeping hope alive for ya!
That yucca is not dead, one thing about Yucca’s, they are built for survival. They are like cacti, but less rotty
It’s not dead!!! Just put it outside and ignore it for a while and it’ll start coming back.
It looks like excess water though. Or he had a watering and suddenly a lack of light. You should take it out of the pot, break up the soil around the roots to inspect and let everything dry in the shade then re-mix the soil. It worked for mine.
If the trunk is rotten, it is possible to collect the small shoots if it is not too late and soak them in water for 1 month then put them in a pot.
Mine was like that. Everyone said throw it away. And a full year later it revived! If the base is not mushy it’s probably alive.
