I’ve seen something similar done to a client’s front lawn, overnight. It was Warthogs, rooting for grubs, bulbs, etc. I thought they were re-doing their landscaping with a backhoe after I saw the extent of the damage.

Skunks or coons digging for grubs, put down 24 hr grub killer

Either small animal like skunks looking for grubs or a leaf blower rolling over bentgrass

Pull on turf near disturbed areas. If it pulls up freely look under it and see if.you see white grubs. They feed on roots right to the surface. As mentioned in previous post apply grub control. You should.be able to save most of what torn up by watering after treatment

That looks like what raccoons did to my lawn. They’re digging for worms. (Of which my lawn has many.)

Tried editing, but couldn’t figure it out. I’m in Vermont. There are a lot of deer in the area. Can’t say I’ve seen a raccoon in years.

Grubs in grass, it’s a raccoon or skunk. It happened to me last year.
NH here. Do you regularly treat for grubs? Around this time of year, do you see a lot of thin black beetles crawling about?

I went went beneficial nematodes this spring. So far, late August, and I’ve only seen ONE junebug. I’m sold. The previous two-three years I was diligent with chemical treatments and last spring and fall, had terrible grub damage. This early summer after an early spring nematodes application, grubs were nearly non-existent. Couldn’t see any damage if they were there at least. Using nematodes again this early fall.

Could be wild hogs, they tear up the land wherever they go. Have you seen any in your area? Or heard reports.
