You have to get the watering right for it to survive. Make sure it doesn’t dry out while also making sure that there roots aren’t drowning. The nursery uses a peat heavy mix that’ll lead to root rot.
Repot it immediately in a chunky mix. I prefer using a clear pot. If you’re keeping it inside, water it when you notice (through the clear pot) that the first few inches are dry. In terms of sunlight, you want bright filtered light. A North facing window works great.
I had one thriving in an office for almost a year, but last winter, our office was closed due to snow and I went on vacation so it went two weeks without watering with the heat blowing on it. I wasn’t able to get it to recover.
