I was doing my usual daily walks around my yards path, and saw this butterfly flutter away from milkweed and land over on my sneezeweed. I stopped and waited and spoke to it "sorry you can go back!" And then I looked to see if it was a female and went waaaaaaaaait a second đ§đ€. My first time ever seeing a Viceroy, I was so shocked and thrilled all at once.

i like Viceroys more than monarchs* dont tell anyone
they are THE reason i grew a bunch of *Salix interior* in my yard this year, and sure enough, their beautifully bird-shitty larva showed up!

Too cool!! I didnât even know these existed
Queens always make me giddy. They’re not as sneaky as Viceroys are though!
I was aware of these but didnât know any specifics. How neat that it spends its whole life disguised as something else. First bird poop, then a monarch
