Poor pollination will cause the sparse kernals but our corn sucked this year and we do know what we're doing lol I don't know if the seed was bad or if the weather was a factor. We had a cooler more wet spring than normal. The joy of gardening is learning and trying again. I bet those little kernals were super sweet ❤
😂😂😂 you at least got something haha my daughter and I planted like 10 sunflowers for her and only one came out!😂😂😂next year for sure I will be planting 🌽 maybe some fruit and I’ll try more sunflowers 🌻

That mold is very valuable
The mold on the corn can be eating. In Mexico it's a delicacy.

Id suggest some Peat moss, its amazing stuff, used it to grow pie pumpkins in my backyard last year, we got several.
