My beautiful alocasia has been growing so well, and is very happy having recently grown three giant leaves in the last couple of months. This past week, three of the oldest leaves finally drooped, beginning their decline. Should I leave them be or cut them off to preserve energy for the new ones? How do people approach this especially for a big plant child?

I usually cut them off because the plant redirects its energy and nutrients from those dying leaves to new growth. I do usually wait until they turn a little yellow tho to ensure that they aren’t just drooping from a light/water issue. I’m not an Alocasia expert tho. TBH I’ve killed all of mine.. so maybe take this advice with a grain of salt.
I know some will disagree but I cut em, especially if I squeeze the stock and it’s soft because it isn’t getting water. Then the plant can focus energy on the healthy leaves
You can put the cuttings into a vase with water and the stocks will usually perk up for a few days. They won’t propogate or last but I think of them like a vase of flowers, a temporary decoration.
I would cut them. They are dying and robbing the healthy parts of nutrition.
