Alzheimer’s Research will be the beneficiary of a garden opening at the Dhoon near Kirkcudbright this weekend
This impressive five acre garden with its large collection of mature shrubs is ablaze with colour this time of year and there is always something of interest to see.
Once dubbed “The Garden of the Unexpected”, 3 Millhall has a series of paths on a hillside running alongside the rocky shore of the Dee Estuary in Kirkcudbright Bay.

The location is stunning and each turn in the many paths reveals another interesting plant in this wonderful collection to admire. There are more than 200 rhododendron species, camellias, hydrangeas and many rare southern hemisphere plants.
The garden at 3 Milllhall (DG6 4TQ) can be found on the B727 between Kirkcudbright and Borgue on the west shore of the Dee Estuary. Parking is at Dhoon Beach public car park about three miles south of Kirkcudbright.

There is a five minute walk to the house as there is no vehicular access to 3 Millhall. Be assured it is well worth the short walk.

The garden will be open on Sunday, August 31 from 2pm to 5pm and by arrangement until the end of October.
