I had first sown carrots. After three weeks, nothing had come up, and I thought the seeds were bad or the soil was poor. So I planted spring onions (not from seeds, but from bulbs). A few weeks later, the carrots started to sprout after all. Luckily, I was able to harvest the spring onions quickly, so they didn’t obstruct the carrots. To my surprise, the carrots grew very well.
I also planted one zucchini plant, which produced a lot of fruit—at least 20 pieces. Additionally, I have cherry tomatoes, bell peppers, chili peppers, and butternut squash
Any tips and tricks are much appreciated. Im planning for next summer to grow the zucchini in the air so i have more room.
I am proud of my mini garden 😀

Your garden is beautiful! And “the carrots”!! 🥕
Lovely use of space and excellent carrots! I also love the tomato being so statuesque. Congrats! 😊
Looks really great! Nice and tidy space. What I’ve learned is to cut off some leaves from the zucchini plant. Keep at least 6-8 leaves, cut off the ones underneath new zucchinis. This to focus energy on growth of fruit and also decrease chances of diseases. Cramped foliage does not let through a lot of wind and under the right (wrong) conditions this promotes these diseases, like mildew.
Looks great and those aren’t rookie harvest numbers – congrats! Any failures or things you think could’ve gone better as I can’t see anything wrong. I would say for next year to make sure you amend your soil with some good compost.
An idea for next year – you could start some cold loving cauliflower and/or broccoli seedlings early July and plant them after you harvest your onions in mid/early August. Keep the seedlings inside during intense heat. Another thing for this year – in late October or November you could plant some garlic bulbs as they require cold temps to grow properly. Lettuce anytime of the year is always a fave of mine too!
Another thing to extend the season…..my dollar store sells these mini greenhouse systems and they work great.

Nice!
How do those spiral sticks hold up? Pretty sturdy?
That must’ve been some nice fluffy soil to get carrots that long and not mangled
Looks great. You can always harvest your carrots in stages, they will happily sit in the ground until you need them!
I love all the different types of stone, tile, concrete, and shingles in these photos! Looks like a cool neighborhood. Is that a bunny next to the carrot patch?
