Selling the crops you’ve grown in your garden is, perhaps unsurprisingly, one of the core activities in Grow a Garden, the Roblox experience that’s arguably the biggest game on the planet as of Summer 2025.

But you know what’s better than selling your ordinary fruit for a small handful of sheckles? Selling your rare, mutated crops for a much higher price!

Not to be confused with pet mutations – which are a linked but discrete mechanic in the game – GaG’s methods for applying crop mutations are all organic and GM-free… even if some of them are a little bit weird-sounding.

Read on below for details of every crop mutation in Grow a Garden and how to apply it, as well as its effect on the price of your fruits!

How to get Grow a Garden crop mutations

There are five basic methods for applying crop mutations in grow a garden:

Variant: A crop grows with an innate variant mutation.
Weather: A weather event applies a mutation to a plant.
Pets: A mutated pet applies its mutation to plants in its vicinity.
Gear: The player uses a gear item to directly apply a mutation.
Combined mutations: Multiple applied mutations combine to replace the existing ones with a brand-new mutation.

“Basic” is the key word there, though, because at the time of writing there are over 30 possible crop mutations in Grow a Garden, and each of them is obtained thanks to a unique interaction that falls within one or more of the categories outlined above. See the table below for full details of each crop mutation and the ways it can be applied.
