Does anyone have experience running into this and getting a bad rash? I just healed from a terrible itchy non-welty rash on my ankles and lower legs (lasted 3 weeks and responded only to Clobetasol cream) from a recent walk in shorts through the river bottom area in Ojai CA and feel like this may have been the culprit but I don't have a name for it. Not sure what I ran into, and I am almost positive that it wasn't poison oak as the reaction was not indicative of urushiol … any information would be appreciated.

Looks like a Star Thistle to me… anyone agree?

Yellow star thistle. Rip it out if yoi can, its very invasive.

Yellow star-thistle for sure. A prickly and annoying non-native, though pollinators love it in late summer.

It’s already hardening off, so the spines are sharp look for this plant in spring when it’s flexible and tender and rip out as much as you can.

These star thistles are the bane of my existence. I walk the property looking for them at least once a month. The one good thing I can say about them is that they can be pulled out of the ground easily.

They make good honey for a plant you do not want.
