I got this monstera a while back and it was originally in a pot with another monstera plant. This one was neglected while its pot-mate was doing pretty good. Finally I decided to give this one some tlc and popped it in some water and it has been very happy! It grew its first new leaf in a long and it had fenestrations! Now it’s growing this one and at first it looked weird… But I think it’s two leaves in one!!

What you yall think? What does this say about how my monstera is feeling? I can’t tell if this is a good or weird thing.

I’ve never heard of this before. Take good care of it and see if subsequent leaves continue. I’d be curious if it’s a mutation and if the mutation persists in the stem from that node onward!

Wow, that’s a first. I think you’re right, OP, it looks like two leaves on the same stem. Likely just a random mutation, but you’ll know for certain once the following set of leaves emerges.

Do keep us posted once the leaves unfurl! This is super interesting

Regular ol’ fenestration nothing to see here folks…

That’s so interesting!!! I wonder if they are independently developed or copies of the same leaf (twins?) 🤔

Commenting because this is interesting and I want to come back and see what happens.

Wasn’t it the X-Men where they used stress to bring out superpowers?? Whatever you do, don’t let this plant die! You may have inadvertently created a new strain.

Take special care of this plant

Twinsies! I’ve seen another post or two about someone having the same thing happen. Doesn’t seem to be super common, especially since many others seem to have missed those other posts! I wonder if the leaves will be smaller than the other because of it being two vs one.

Amazing! This mutation is called fasciation. There is another redditor who had this happen to their monstera. And it repeated for the next few leaves! I’m still excited for both your updates! You are very lucky 🍀💚
