The countdown to the official start of fall is on, but at Digs Home and Garden, the season has already begun. The home furnishings store specializes in both indoor and outdoor living, and according to store manager Deb Woolfolk, fall is one of the most exciting seasons for decorating.“Digs is all about furnishings for your home — how to embellish it, enhance it, whether it’s for outdoor or indoor,” Woolfolk explained. “We’ve got many options to make your place nice and cozy.”The store began its seasonal transformation about two weeks ago, a process Woolfolk said takes nearly a full week. “We were closed for a few days, which was nice. It gave us the opportunity to work and not have to worry so much about our customers at that time,” she said. It’s a huge undertaking, one that owner Ben Palmer-Ball calls a “monster effort.”“You know what, at this point, I can look back on it as a lot of fun,” Palmer-Ball said. “But while we’re doing it, it is a monster effort,”The biggest reason? Clearing out summer merchandise and bringing in a whole new look. “Fall and Christmas are definitely big efforts,” he said. When it comes to fall decorating trends this year, Woolfolk pointed to bold seasonal hues. There is, of course, a lot of orange, but also brighter color waves and textures both on furniture and throw pillows to “enhance and bring in the season.”But she added that transitioning your home does not require a complete overhaul. “If you have place settings already in place, you’re just wanting to bring in a little color, different ways that we can show you how to continue to use what you have and not have to break the bank to start all over again,” Woolfolk said. “Simple swaps like placemats, napkins or decorative accents can go a long way.”Layering is a key way to do that. Take this, for example: You can use a wreath as the base, with a smaller one on top. Then add a vase and a candle inside, and you have a show-stopping centerpiece. It’s all about mixing and adding to make your creation.“We love to help our customers find ways to use what they already have and enhance it for the season,” Woolfolk said. “It’s all about making your home warm, inviting and ready for fall.”
SAINT MATTHEWS, Ky. —
The countdown to the official start of fall is on, but at Digs Home and Garden, the season has already begun.
The home furnishings store specializes in both indoor and outdoor living, and according to store manager Deb Woolfolk, fall is one of the most exciting seasons for decorating.
“Digs is all about furnishings for your home — how to embellish it, enhance it, whether it’s for outdoor or indoor,” Woolfolk explained. “We’ve got many options to make your place nice and cozy.”
The store began its seasonal transformation about two weeks ago, a process Woolfolk said takes nearly a full week.
“We were closed for a few days, which was nice. It gave us the opportunity to work and not have to worry so much about our customers at that time,” she said.
It’s a huge undertaking, one that owner Ben Palmer-Ball calls a “monster effort.”
“You know what, at this point, I can look back on it as a lot of fun,” Palmer-Ball said. “But while we’re doing it, it is a monster effort,”
The biggest reason? Clearing out summer merchandise and bringing in a whole new look.
“Fall and Christmas are definitely big efforts,” he said.
When it comes to fall decorating trends this year, Woolfolk pointed to bold seasonal hues. There is, of course, a lot of orange, but also brighter color waves and textures both on furniture and throw pillows to “enhance and bring in the season.”
But she added that transitioning your home does not require a complete overhaul.
“If you have place settings already in place, you’re just wanting to bring in a little color, different ways that we can show you how to continue to use what you have and not have to break the bank to start all over again,” Woolfolk said. “Simple swaps like placemats, napkins or decorative accents can go a long way.”

It’s all about mixing and adding to make your creation.
