MLive has been on a search to find Michigan’s showiest flower gardens. We received a lot of great pictures from gardeners all over our state. Here are some of the most eye-popping flower gardens.

Robert Hance of Newaygo has his garden sprawling from around his house, down a walking path into a wooded area.

Barbara McCann of Northport has a compact flower garden with a lot of color. The garden is mostly perennials and uses boulders and berms to give somewhat of a hill effect to her central garden. She shows us how we can use other earth features to add to the garden look.

Pam and Dale Steen of Rochester are inspired in their garden by their dog, Harley. While Harley is a small dog, Pam and Dale’s garden has a lot of beautiful and tall flowers, like the giant dahlias.

Linda McKinney of Michigan Center does a great job below of showing how to give each plant some space. In her garden, we get to look at individual plants. The flowering plants also love not be crowded out by other plants. Her garden also uses boulders, a fence and garden ornaments to add interest.

Judy Fera’s garden is also in Northport in Leelanau County. We have two of our favorite flower gardens in Northport. Judy has a lot of elements in her garden that enhance it. It’s mostly a perennial garden, but she also uses hanging baskets, garden trinkets and coastal furniture to accent the colors.

Now, we have the hard job of deciding which place will claim the garden crown: MLive’s Prettiest Flower Garden.
