BBC’s long-running horticultural show Gardeners’ World has issued an apology after presenter Adam Frost’s dog was unable to contain himself on screen during the most recent edition of the programme on Friday August 22. In honour of National Dog Day, the show took to Instagram to say sorry on the pooch’s behalf after he answered the call of nature in the middle of the show. “Buster would like to thank everyone for all their lovely comments about Friday’s show. But would like to apologise for having a little wee on camera while Adam was watering his plants. He thought no one would notice, but some of you did! Needless to say Ash has had a word,” they wrote alongside an adorable picture of the canine.
It turned out his indiscretion hadn’t gone unnoticed but viewers had loved it. Commenting on the post they expressed how funny they found it. “Oh no the wee was exactly what we needed hahahaha he’s a perfect little angel and loved the show so much!!!” one wrote.
“We noticed but it was perfectly synchronised with some (real) watering so it was kind of artistic in a way!” another penned. A third chimed in: “Oh Buster. We love you even more for your wee on tv.”
“It was perfect timing. He was just helping as well!” a fourth added. “Oh please don’t worry – the noise of running water has the best of us looking for the WC,” a fifth shared.
Meanwhile a sixth commented: “Buster’s wee was the funniest thing ever!!! So happy you left that in!!! He’s just the cutest. Your program brings me so much joy.”
Buster’s big moment came as viewers took umbrage at one of Adam’s gardening techniques on the show.
He was slammed by audiences at home during the episode who were less than impressed when the British garden designer began to use an electric hedge trimmer to reorganise his garden and get rid of any real pernicious weeds.
However, BBC fans were not happy with him using the electric tool and furiously reacted on social media.
Elsewhere in the episode, a retired GP showed Frances Tophill around his stunning garden in West Yorkshire. At Long Barn Gardens in Kent, Advolly Richmond retraced the footsteps of renowned garden designer and writer Vita Sackville-West.
There was also a chef turned gardener who loved nothing more than growing a tasty array of vegetables, and there was an inspiring visit to Suffolk, where a man has spent the last 14 years creating the garden of his dreams.
