Stay past the end! 100° heat. A tower about to topple. Burnout hitting hard. This week nearly broke us — but when the garden pushes too far, we push back. In this UnCut episode, we’re fighting through one of the toughest weeks of summer: battling the triple-digit heat, scrambling to save a toppling dahlia tower, and hitting that point where burnout feels real. But stick around — just when it all feels like too much, we break away to Malibu and CameraGuy nails one of the best sunset shots of the summer.
That’s the heart of UnCut — the real everyday moments of garden life, the ones that make us laugh, shake our heads, and remind us why fresh food from our own garden is always worth it.

We have like that too in Michigan the same color
😂 so funny with the grass hopper.
Living in Arizona for a lifetime, they say you get use to it! Nope, 65 years and I’m still not use to it.
That was funny when you saw the grasshopper is there any frogs around there have you ever been to Galveston Texas Beach
Enjoy!
I just wait till it cools down enough
Cuz I added earthgro topsoil on my bed for my fall vegetables
I work from 6am to 2:30, can’t wait to get to my tiny garden to see what’s new. I have a volunteer water melon growing and every day it’s gotten bigger, so excited. We named it “who’s your Daddy” because we simply don’t know where it came from, lol. Thanks guys for everything.
❤❤ wonderful video loved it. I love sunsets right. Wonderful and the beach. Well, what can we say? It was absolutely beautiful. I'm glad you went to the beach.
Beautiful sun ship shot of Kim! ❤😀I’m a Dalia fan too! I don’t get bothered by your side house there if it’s less than perfect, no worries. I am not burned out, but if I get too hot, I get to the coast. Glad you had a nice lunch! We’re getting a break with the heat this week with thunderstorms heading for the sierras. 🌻🪴🥰Pumpkins are starting to come in here with some more watermelons. Those were some nice speghetti squash. Fall is almost here my dears! Hang in there. I agree that is a false belief.❤
😂😂😂 I absolutely love you getting the grasshopper 🦗
Fun watch. Different but loved it 😊
Awesome video guys it’s fun getting to know you both on a more personal level! 👍👍👍 Liz
Loving these uncut versions instructional as well as funny more relatable. Glad you took a break and enjoyed the day the beach was gorgeous.
❤️🩹🥰💐🌱☀️ My husband & I used to walk the beach all the time looking for treasures (paradise beach in Florida!) we haven’t been in ages because we take care of my father in law full time for the last 8 years xx we miss going there so much!! I have lots of sea glass, sharks teeth, shells & random trinkets that we’ve found washed up on the sand 🥰☀️ we put them in our garden sometimes xx great video! Glad you had a nice day out together 😍🤩🥰
I LOVE this series. Seeing your senses of humor (sense of humors?) just keeps it all real. The grasshopper made me giggle so much – a daily occurance in my backyard. I HATE those things, btw. And Kim is 100% correct – they can eat almost as much as a hornworm. Beach! I'm originally from FL – and my getaway is always a trip home to soak up some sand and salt air. So good for the soul. That sunset shot – perfection. Your expertise is showing again CG! Thank you both!
What! Same thing happened to me this week. I was spraying my orange tree and huge grasshopper flew out. I beat the liver out of it before it died. Unfortunately there is another one in there 😢
That was a fun video with humor, adventure, and also educational. I love dahlias too, thanks to Calikim. I grew my first ones this year in smart pots and in the garden. The last plant is very close to opening and I can't wait to see the flowers when they bloom!
I like the uncut videos and when we see how camera guy does his shots, we see and appreciate all the work that he puts into helping make these videos what they are. When we want to get away, we don't really go to the beach, we go walking by the waterfalls, living in the U.P. we have plenty of them to visit.
Hahaha that part of the garden that you don't show often is the first place I watched your video about compost piles
What a great variety of filming locations. I had no idea it could be that much cooler just an hour away at the beach! And YES, we all need to remember to take care of ourselves like you said! I loved seeing the drive, the restaurant, the CAKE😊, the beach, and the bloopers!
Awww!! Poor little grasshopper! 😭Sadly he picked the wrong garden to explore. Okay Camera Guy, say "Set up a Sunset Shot," 3x really fast, hahahaha! You may have struggled saying it, but you perfected the lighting on Kim. Well done! Kim, I love the dress you were wearing in the final sunset shot. Sooo pretty! My daughter is heading down your way soon, so I hope the triple digit weather cools off! 💞
I've remember walking on that beach when I was a kid. I grew up in the OC, Huntington Beach. I miss the warmer water. Water is in the 50s up here. The heat has been brutal. In my garden its survival of the fittest. During the heatwave I try to get out in the garden between 6-7 am. 10am is the cutoff for sun exposure. Ha, I usually have something falling over every year. I keep a few 6ft T posts and a T post driver around for those pesky items that want to fall over. The heat wave broke for us today, only 85. Can't wait to see the next video.
Great video, I enjoyed the beach, thanks.
Gorgeous dahlias.
I had a grasshopper jump into my shirt one time. I was wondering what was kind of pinching and tickling me, so I reached in my shirt and pulled out a grasshopper! I still shudder when I think of it. lol
Yes, you should go to the beach more often! Especially during heatwaves. That is a crazy temperature difference from where you live and the beach.
Those dahlias are tall! Are they a special variety? Mine only get 3' tall. I HAD a leaning GreenStalk because I was ghetto & used a furniture dolly as the "spinner". They now have the proper spinners. Oh wow I didn't know u were close to Malibu! I'm 35 miles from the beach but its a cruddy Watsonville beach, drive 10-15 miles more to Monterey or Santa Cruz 🌊 oh the Monterey Bay is COLD tho Only wetsuits.
Kim the beach was beautiful! ♥️
Oh I envy your proximity to the beach 💕 I do not envy your heatwave. We’ve actually had a mild ish August. No complaints!
Very nice I was born in Long Beach I miss the beach but my brother and I spent the day on the lake in Oklahoma and brought back 9 catfish
Speaking of to Hot we just went through a month and a half of to Hot
