The Gloom Mutation was added to Grow a Garden on August 23, 2025, as part of the Beanstalk Update expansion. It’s a mutation that requires combining two different ones to make it, so here’s everything you need to know about it. Such as how to get it and what it does!

How to Get the Gloom Mutation in Grow a Garden

Before you can get the Gloom Mutation, you’ll need to understand how to get the Bloom and Rot Mutation. Similar to other mutations that require combinations like Maelstrom and Clay, this can be a little confusing since it’s not reliant on a natural event.

Here’s what you need to know about how to get Bloom and Rot to make Gloom:

There are two ways to get the Bloom Mutation. First, you can use the Mutation Spray Bloom, which you have a chance of getting from the green orb rewards along the event Beanstalk. Otherwise, you can get it from the Spriggan pet. It will occasionally spread its roots to all nearby fruit for a chance to apply the Bloom Mutation. There is one way to get the Rot Mutation in Grow a Garden. You’ll need a Mandrake pet and a whole lot of Mandrake crops to play the odds on this one. The Mandrake’s ability is that it has a small chance to apply the Rot Mutation to a random fruit in your garden when harvesting a Mandrake crop.

While it doesn’t matter what order you get each mutation on your plant, once they’re both on it, they’ll combine to make Gloom.

What Does the Gloom Mutation Do?

Like all mutations, Gloom adds a value multiplier to your crops. This increases the profits of your fruit by x30. Which makes it an okay mutation that requires a lot of luck to get, since there isn’t currently an easy way to get Rot.
