The Rot Mutation was added to Grow a Garden on August 23, 2025, as part of the Beanstalk Update expansion. It’s a mutation that’s tied to a pet ability, so here’s everything you need to know about this mutation. Such as how to get it and what it does!
How to Get the Rot Mutation in Grow a Garden
The only way to get the Rot Mutation is by having a Mandrake pet in your garden since you’ll need its ability. It has a 3.6% chance to apply the Rot Mutation to a random fruit in your garden each time you harvest a Mandrake crop. This chance will vary slightly depending on the age of your pet.
You can try to have multiple Mandrakes in your garden for an increased chance, but we can’t confirm if this impacts the chances. The reason this mutation is tough to get aside from needing to get a Mandrake is that the Mandrake plant is a single-harvest one. Which, unfortunately, makes it quite limited.
What Does the Rot Mutation Do?
Like all mutations, Rot adds a value multiplier to your crops. This increases the profits of your fruit by x8. Which makes it a little better than the lowest multipliers, but not by a lot. For a mutation that can be a hassle to get, it’s only really worth it if you’re trying to get Gloom.
