Lots of successes today in Sekka Hinoki, Kingsville boxwood, and Satsuki Azalea. Everything is protected still under my shade/wind structure.

My Kingsvilles have been wild. I took the cuttings about a YEAR ago and some are just now putting out roots, and I’ve still got about 5 that are alive but still have no roots!

Japanese Maple cuttings continue to be the bane of my existence.

Me too! I cannot seem to throw a cutting away either!

I have a trident cutting that just took along with Suriname cherry and many ficus!

I’ve had so little success with cuttings of any kind. Air layers I can knock out left and right. I think I need a mini greenhouse or something to baby the cuttings until they root, or maybe it’s my substrate, or timing, or any number of things.

    What’s your favorite rooting hormone?

Can I ask what the white stuff on the plant is?

We have had success with late winter cuttings on JM and mid summer (but need a lot of protection) just in succulent and cacti mix with rooting gel the gel we use is what I have heard Americans call 8% we are a naturally fairly humid area

Sekka is frustrating overall for me. Got one last fall and it’s grown absolutely none this season.
