Does anyone have a good reccomendation preferably from Amazon on a good light to hang from the ceiling for my billietiae? And has anyone used these? I should also mention that I get a bit of indirect light from a window, it’s a north ish facing window, it’s not a huge amount of light.

I’m trying to get the leaves to grow 360 degrees in all directions rather than having them grow in one direction like they are right now.

I haven’t tried either of these, but I do have grow lights in pendants, and am familiar with your concerns about what direction the plants grow in.

First, I’d suggest just getting a corded pendant lamp of your choice and a grow bulb to fit it with. You’ll save money, and won’t have to trash the whole thing if the LEDs ever burn out or you decide you need a light of a different strength. Plus a wider shade will cast light over a broader area.

The more directed a plant’s main source of light is, the more the plant is going to grow in that direction. I think a wider pendant shade will help with that to some extent, but ultimately you might just want a broader light, like maybe T5s or T8s. Which are definitely not as attractive, so there’s that to contend with.

I’d also strongly recommend against anything with an in-line timer. They just don’t work very well – they don’t have memory, so if they lose power you have to wait to the next day to reset them. I had a bunch of them for a while but ultimately traded them for modular lights that I could use with smart plugs. Much, much better.

I haven’t use either, but the second one is a higher wattage which means it’s going to throw more light than the first one. (And also produce more heat)

I would definitely go with the second one, tho 40w is a little low if that’s its ONLY light and not just supplemental.

Edit: actually finished reading, lol, it should do fine in a north window with the 40w. However, getting it to grow every direction is forcing the plant to do something it doesn’t naturally like to do. It’s possible, but not recommended because it can be stressful for the plant.
