This is St. Augustine grass in Florida. We had the sod replaced back in April and it looked beautiful in May. Then the heat wave came July/August and I was watering every other day, then switched to every day once my lawn took a turn. I fertilized with Scott’s Turf Builder food Southern lawn. Please let me know if this is disease? Or I just didn’t water enough? It has gotten plenty of water and rain in the last couple of weeks and it’s not looking as green as other lawns in the neighborhood.

Not sure what you guys can put down but preventative fungicide should also be in your regiment. Spray or granular. Once you get disease you’ll never go a season without putting down preventative fungicides.
I’m a cool season grass though. But some closer pics of grass blades would help a lot
Not a good idea to fertilize in July/August in Florida. Maybe with Milorganite or something like it. Over watering can be a problem also. Make sure only to water in the morning also. Honestly, it doesn’t look bad. Should come back.
You don’t really need to fertilize St Augustine / Centipede. The levels needed, when required, are super low.
Too much will cause it to regress.
Scott’s is garbage. Jonathan Greene or similar products only. Omg Scott’s is like putting mascara on and Greene is using Latisse. Big difference.
And I’m curious what others say it doesn’t look well.
Looks like fungus to me. Been dealing with the same in my Bermuda in sc because of the weeks of rain. I put down headway g about 10 days ago and have seen significant improvements. Frayed edges on the grass blades may mean you need a new or sharpened blade on your mower. Tearing the grass can make it more susceptible to disease. As someone mentioned above, I think preventative fungicide needs to be a part of regular maintenance for my warm season southern Bermuda lawn going forward.
