Check out these gardens at Astoria’s Flavel House Aug. 30

Now in its sixth summer, the Flavel House Garden Society invites the public to a free educational tour of the Victorian-era gardens at the Flavel House Museum at 714 Exchange St., in Astoria.

Volunteer Anne Stickel will lead a guided walk 10 a.m. Aug. 30. Stickel will showcase the Garden Society’s accomplishments over the past six years and share plans for the garden’s future. Participants will discover the plantings and their historical significance and learn how Victorian garden design can inspire their own landscaping

As well as the Flavel House, the society operates the the Heritage Museum, the Oregon Film Museum and the Uppertown Firefighters Museum.
