Saw this on my plant and was just curious about it so I googled it and then I immediately ran to get something to kill it 😂

They’re considered “established” where I am and it only took a couple of years T_T

Our sidewalks were stained with them last year from so much stomping. There’s even more this year.

Depending on where you are, check with your state’s government to report it with the picture and location. Sounds like you weren’t familiar with them, so your state may be seeking reports of their presence to map out the invasion.

Report it. It’s a highly invasive species.

They are all over our area in the Baltimore suburbs.

I have so many in my yard. Unfortunately, they are here to stay in my neighborhood

3 years ago these things were a TERROR where I lived

Saw one in my garden for the first time this weekend. I think I’ve heard that in my area the authorities don’t even care if folks kill them anymore, because it’s already too late. Check with your state.

What are the plants? Are those seeds in the pots?

You need to report this. The spread is being tracked by extension offices all over the USA.

On a visit to NYC a couple weeks ago, I saw a guy stop in his tracks, stomp, then go on his way… odd behavior I thought… THEN I started noticing the lantern flies all over! Haven’t seen any in Chicago yet but I’ve heard they’re starting to pop up here.

The other day, I saw a guy in a wheelchair go out of his way to squish a lanternfly lol.

They are so fast too! I chased one down my yard so I could kill it. Then, I had another one staring at me with its beady red eyes, and never moved. So much easier killing it while it was chilling in my garden.

Saw one of these while leaving work one day and looked like a crazy person stomping on it.

Run to get something? Your hands or shoe does just fine, they are harmless to humans!
