Oh sad day of days.. I came home from a long trip and my peace lily is not doing well. I have no idea what to do or if she’s salvageable. Any thoughts? Thanks so much! (We have peace a chance and… 😂)

Is the pot light or heavy?
If light, give water. If heavy, it probably has root rot.
Take pot off to see if roots are black

Yes, my peace Lilly has looked like that and bounced back, fine. They can be ‘drama queens’, but thankfully one of the hardiest plants. A nice watering, and she should be on her way back by tomorrow

“Friend” said plant was doing “fine”.

Fixed your title for you. u/plantchic is right, if dry water it, if wet, probably has root rot.

These are notorious for being dramatic. Give her a bit of water and she’ll be fine in a couple hours 😅

Don’t ask your friend for fashion advice. Just saying.

Honestly, peace lilies can go from actually doing fine to this in about half a day. There’s a good chance it WAS fine and is just thirsty. It will bounce back to full health in a couple of hours to a day after giving it water.

Just water the diva. Mine wilts like that all the time. Usually a good soak & some sun and she perks back up.

Peace Lilly’s are drama queens and would make great opera singers. Water it and it will bounce right back up.

Thanks for all the advice. I’m going to look more into root rot. I hope that’s not it.

And to be fair.. it’s hot! She looks like I feel!

  10. It might not look like it but that’s actually pretty normal for that plant. They love to show they need water by pretty much collapsing like this, but after 1 to 2 days it will be fine again.

I’ve had mine for like 5 years now and after every vacation (about 2 weeks) I return to it looking sad like this (having watered it heavily before leaving). A good dousing of water later and its all good to go again.

In my experience (have had the same peace lily since 1997), you can’t over water these. Mine thrive in what looks like mud.

Just water it, it will be fine. Mines looked worse than this and bounced right back. Plus mine was left in the sun too long on more than one occasion and still didn’t die. Looked horrible until it grew out, but it lived.

I finally divided mine this year, I got 3 large plants and a bunch of small ones. Plus some that I was just too tired to do anything with and stuck in a jar of water. All are doing fine, most have already started to grow babies. Even the one I planted in a container with no drainage just to see what would happen. It’s fine. It’s actually growing pups. All the large ones bloomed within a cohoe weeks of the repot.

It’s fine. It just needs a good soak, make to rehydrate the potting mix in case it has gone hydrophobic.

The leaves aren’t permanently wilted yet. Well, maybe one. Give it a day and you won’t even know it was in this state. Even if it had suffered some serious damage, peace lilies will usually recover. They’re extremely tough and tolerant of neglect.

She will. My Princess is ALWAYSSSSSS dramatic!

Trusting someone else with something you care is always too big of a gamble, next time I would buy some electronic plant watering system on amazon, you can fill up a big bucket of water and set the days you want the plant watered, you can set up how long it will water and everything great thing if you need to go on trips, also if you use light for your plants just get a smart plug where you can also set schedules for the lights to go on and off

    Check the soil
    Wed / you drownd it
    Dry / water it
    No tapwater

    Good luck

Just needs water. These are dramatic plants.

Yeah 👍 Looks jest fine /S, is it a finalist, for how long without water before I die 🤔

That plant is a drama queen. Sit the pot in a bowl of water and the diva will come back to life.

Bottom water deeply, she will bounce back!

My girl looks like that after 3 days of “not perfect” conditions 😂 give it a good water and place her back on her fav spot. Tell her she’s pretty for some bonus points

  22. yeah I forgot to water mine and there’s a few times it got almost as bad as that. Surprisingly it always bounced back. I would put it in the shower and spray the foliage and the soil with tepid water thoroughly

    First – friends lie
    Second -friends don’t water

It should be fine just soak in water till soil is completely saturated and let drain.
