Harvested my first SugarBaby watermelon on friday. Was juicy, but not that sweet… I waited for its tendril and both closest tendrils to dry, then I started counting days.

After 9 days, I was nervous it would brown, so I went for it. It has a yellow spot underneath, was dark green with a matte finish. Seems it needed a bit more time!

It has been quite a chore to figure out when they're ready, the only thing left to check is if the rind has a lil' give when you press it. (This one didn't.)

Up here, I think I might have to wait for the vines to die off. We already have temps below 54F at night, so I've been covering them. Hope the other melons will have time to ripen up.

Oh wow, sugar baby watermelon ARE really tiny.

I have 3 different types of watermelon, and wasn’t sure my sugar baby watermelon germinated.

I’ve been checking this one little one that never seems to grow anymore, and based on your little dude there, I have a feeling it’s done growing and possibly pickable!
