An open garden weekend at a care home has raised more than £600 for charity.
Sixty-four visitors from the community flocked to Colten Care’s Brook View in West Moors over a Saturday and Sunday to enjoy the gardens, which were opened to the public as part of the National Garden Scheme (NGS).
The open garden weekend marked the latest in a series of events at Colten Care homes this summer.
Resident Sylvia Paddy, who attended the event, said: “The garden was proudly on display, the weather was lovely, the sun was shining and the day was just perfect.”

The gardens boasted an array of colourful flower beds and borders, many of which had been tended by residents themselves with the assistance and guidance of Colten Care’s gardening team.
Visitors could view features such as the pond, games lawn, and greenhouse.
There was also a plant stall, raffle, and an NGS garden quiz.
A range of cakes, freshly baked by Brook View chef Isabella Corbo, were available for visitors to sample.
The open garden weekend followed a separate community event held just weeks earlier to celebrate Brook View’s 30th anniversary.
Home manager Abhishek Bagchi said: “It was a joy to welcome so many friends and new faces alike once again.
“Just like our recent anniversary event, the NGS open weekend was a great outdoor experience filled with laughter and community spirit.
“At the same time, we’re thrilled to have raised a total of £605 for NGS charities.”

Brook View’s NGS weekend followed that of Colten Care’s New Milton care home, Kingfishers, held in June.
Another of Colten Care’s homes, Woodpeckers in Brockenhurst, is set to open its garden on August 30 and 31.
Visitors to Woodpeckers will be able to view dahlias, crocosmias, and rudbeckias, as well as a courtyard, a bug house, a wooden chainsaw sculpture, and a small orchard and woodland with views through to neighbouring New Forest fields.
