This is a big old juniper that I've been working on for almost 15 years, I got it from my teacher Brent back during my apprenticeship. The initial styling was done in a workshop at Brent's with Marco Invernizzi back in 2012.

We've been calling in a Sargent Juniper, as it's growth habit is a bit different from the standard shimpaku, but now I'm not certain if that is the correct ID, as all the websites I've looked at describe Sargent as a ground cover, and this one is quite upright.

The foliage is very compact like a shimpaku, but it doesn't get the extending shoots like they do.

Regardless of its ID, I like it a lot and tend to keep it a little naturalistic, rather than the excessively manicured shimpaku.

It's in a nice old pot from Jim Gremmel.
