What if your lawn could feed you?
A few years ago, our front yard was nothing but grass. Today, it’s home to more than 100 fruit trees, edible flowers, herbs, and pollinator plants — a thriving foodscape in the middle of Pleasanton, California (Zone 9b). Our entire orchard grows in about **2,000 square feet of space** — proof that you don’t need acres to create abundance.
This transformation began with a simple idea: rip out the grass and replace it with **beauty and food**. By blending aesthetics with function, we turned a plain suburban lawn into an **urban food oasis** — a landscape that nourishes both the eye and the body.
In this first part of our **Urban Orchard Garden Tour series**, we’ll explore the *front yard* and show you what’s fruiting, blooming, and thriving this summer. You’ll discover ideas and inspiration to transform your own space — whether it’s a balcony, backyard, or patch of lawn — into an edible paradise.
🌱 **My Gardening Philosophy**
My focus is on efficiency and quality of life for the grower in small urban and suburban spaces. It’s not about doing more — it’s about doing less, doing it well, and doing it consistently, so you can enjoy *year-round food*. More land doesn’t mean you grow better. Fewer plants, grown with care, will give you better quality over time. **Farm small, farm smart.**
🌿 **Why I Blog & Post Videos**
I share my journey to help others grow nutrient-rich food and design edible gardens that are also beautiful. For me, time in the garden is both creative and nourishing — and sharing that journey makes it even more meaningful.
