This vine came off my pothos when I was moving and Im hoping to propagate it. If it has a leaf does that mean it has a node? How long should it take to grow roots?

Thank you all

It was a hanging Pothos with not enough light, right? Nevermind, usually if you propagate a long vine it gonna take more time if it’s make even roots, that’s because the cuttings use the energy to keep the leaves instead of making roots, also because of glutation basically the leaves lost the water stored in the cutting, and because the lack of roots it dry before making roots.

Usually takes around 8-10 weeks to have a cutting ready to be planted in soil. Someone told me that could it be only 2 weeks to have a good root system but I’ve propagated a lot of them and I’m pretty sure that’s bs.

I see several places I’d cut & stick in water to start roots. I have had pieces like this over the years and ended up making a lot of new lush plants. It does take time to grow roots, so be patient. Unless 1 turns dark, mushy, or stinky; it’ll grow. I also find that I have better luck putting in water to root first, then planting in dirt. Dirt seems to take a lot longer & not all of them make it compared to in vials with water sitting in a sunny window. Whenever I remember to check, I add water if needed. If it’s brownish looking, I poor some of that out before adding new to it. I don’t use anything but regular water even though I see people say distilled water, to completely change the water when needed or do the 1/2 old 1/2 new. My way has always worked for me.🤷‍♀️Try a few of the above different ways & see which works best for you. Good luck!🙂

Rooting hormone makes it grow quicker. I swear by “prop drops” I LOVE THEM! I propagate a lot and im about to start on my 2nd bottle. I even add them in a sprayer with water and spray my plants!

  4. It will definitely root. Yoy can leave it like that or chop it up more to make multiples. Up to you! Just stick it in water amd let it sit a while. 2-4 weeks u should see growth if its a healthy cutting. If you have pothos to put in with it they put out a natural rooting hormone to speed up other plants root growth.

BTW – Looks like a philo not a pothos… Skinny stem, multiple nodes at each leaf and, the dead giveaway, the dried up sheaths around each leaf. Pothos wont have those
