I just got this massive bird of paradise off of Facebook marketplace place. I am wondering if there is a better way to provide supports and or get it to lean less? The last owner had it for over 12 years and mostly supported the larger leaves with string, it came not being able to support itself on its own. I am I’m wondering if the smaller of the two main stems can be rectified to stand straighter. Should I be rotating it when it’s leaning and so heavy? Is it worth trying to get it to stand straighter or will that harm a plant if this size? Anything else I can do to support it in its new home?

So far I have placed it in these windows that get good light for at least half the day, but isn’t super direct light. Watering normally

Sounds like the previous owner had to let it go for the same issue you are having.. it’s way too tall for your living space. Really no solution for this..

Have you looked at similar plants online? I suspect it was in a position where it was leaning towards a light source. It doesn’t look terribly stretched out, so that’s good. they need a lot of bright sun.

Do you have a south facing window that you can move it toward?

Can you be more specific about watering?
