Thought it was really unusual. Wondered if anyone could identify?

    It’s a variety of Aeonium. I think it’s the black rose Aeonium.

    Aeonium arboreum – most likely ‘Zwartkop’ which means black head. They are mostly summer dormant so the rosettes close up tightly as seen in the photo and will open up in autumn to reveal the slightly lighter purple leaf bases
