Aldi rolls out so many plants week to week, it’s hard to keep track of how many low-cost favorites we’ve been able to add to our collections thanks to the chain. There’s been classic roses and hydrangeas, and now Aldi’s iconic aisle is about to bulk our collections up once again.

Because next week, loyal Aldi shoppers can look forward to a fall-favorite—mums—arriving at stores along with money trees and a low-maintenance favorite: ZZ plants.

6″ ZZ Plant, $9.99 at AldiWhat are ZZ Plants?

This isn’t the first time Aldi’s carried ZZ (short for Zamioculcas zamiifolia) plants in stores. If you haven’t heard of these before, the returning plant is recognizable by its waxy, deep green leaves and has a reputation as one of the most beginner-friendly picks around.

As one expert put it, “even people with brown thumbs can keep [them] alive.” Aka, if you or someone in your life loves plants but can’t manage to keep them alive, this is the one to go with.

They don’t need direct sunlight (in fact, that’s why they made it onto our list of best plants for north-facing windows) or regular water to survive. Watering is only necessary once every two to three weeks.

In other words, if you have a corner or spot on a shelf that doesn’t get much light but would look way better with some greenery around, a ZZ plant will do the trick. Bonus: it’s also an air-cleaning houseplant

What Aldi Shoppers Have Said About Its ZZ Plants

Shoppers who have bought these six inch plants in the past attested to their ease.

On Facebook, after one user asked for opinions on the ZZ plants, one user commented, “we like it, hard to kill.” Someone else gushed, “have one from Aldi and it is thriving!!”.

In a Reddit thread about these, someone else even shockingly shared that their Aldi ZZ plant—which they bought back in 2022—is still going strong. “My ZZ from Aldi in 2022 is my only plant that seems to not stop growing,” they said.

So if you want some easy breezy greenery around, Aldi’s ZZ’s are clearly the perfect pick. For a hardy plant with so many pros, snag one at Aldi starting August 27.
