    This is called etiolation. When a plant is deprived of light the plant will stretch upward to find its way back to light. Natural instances of this would be situations like the plant being buried under debris. It conserves energy by not producing chlorophyll until it’s reintroduced to light.

    Essentially the plant being left in the closet tricked the plant into thinking it was buried under something and it started stretching upward to get back to the light. But it was in a closet so it could stretch all it wanted in every direction and it can’t find its way out.

    May I ask why you put your plants in the closet? But whatever reason that plant looks pretty cool.

    My question is why were they in a closet?!

    Chlorophyl = green color

    no chlorophyl = white

    Which is why albino plants need to be grafted and why parasitic plants are often white

    First question is why were your plants in a closet?

    This happened to me with a string of hearts plant, it died so I put the nice pot in the cupboard to re-use. Opened that cupboard one day to find a tall pale shoot going straight up, it’s never looked so good now it’s growing again.
