As the title states, I got GusGus about 7/8 years ago . He was an unwanted clearance plant that was literally just a stick with three leaves when I got him. Over the years he grew and became this beautiful tree, but in our last move (about two years ago) he just became really unhappy and started dropping leaves (hence his bald spot). I want to make sure that I am providing for him the best possible care I can, (he’s my emotional support plant and I just need him to be healthy and live)

I water him roughly once every two-three weeks. His plant pot has a drainage bin as well. He sits in a room with big south facing windows, so gets south saving sun. I believe he is in the fox farm happy frog soil as well.

Any tips on ways I can spruce him up/ make him happier?

Looks a little far from any windows…

Gus Gus is in need of more light. And we can’t see her soil to know if there’s issues down there. But light is the first step.

I’m guessing the window is to the right of the TV? It’s leaning and leggy, so it definitely wants more light. I don’t know if there’s anything you can do about the wonky stem or bare spots besides propagating though.

I am about to take my version of GusGus (two trunks in one pot) and cut them to about 18” and 24” (for interesting height difference)!then I’m going to see if the two tops I cut off will root out. It’s going to be great. You should do fresh soil and a chop and give GusGus some more light, as others have already said 🙂

Poor GG 🥹 more light please. Also make sure the cats aren’t peeing in its soil 🙃

I say chop it and start over! Go look at the happy happy house plant instagram. She has amazing fiddle leaf figs that are bushy and beautiful!

It needs much more light. Even few meters away from windows is closer to no-light than low light, and in nature *F. lyrata* grows in more or less full sun.

  8. GusGus is begging for a grow light, help him out!
