The event, held at the Rifle Hall, featured 229 entries from 25 exhibitors.

Visitors enjoyed a pleasant atmosphere, with tea, homemade cakes and tables filled with fresh produce and plants on offer. A maximum price of £2 per plant ensured bargains for all.

Among the winners, A. Goodchild notably took home the Championship Cup, Society Tankard, Stanley Felgate and Doughboy awards.

The show also welcomed new exhibitors, who received “encouraging results”.

The society now looks ahead to its next meeting on Thursday, October 9 at 7pm, which will feature a talk on “Greener Gardening” by Ruth Goudy.
