In this video I show you how to cut and join garden sleepers so you too can make your own raised sleeper bed that is high quality and something to be proud of.

I've just used the square technique today to cut sleepers. It works a treat. Thank you @properdiy.
Are the main sleepers 2.4m long ?
Hi. Great video. Are you using green treated sleepers?
Love your idea of using a strip to get a straight line of lining the beds. Question though, how did you navigate the corners?
very neat nice job sir
Can I use this method for a brick flower bed 5 bricks high 4 x7 bricks
Do you fix the sleepers to the brick or just lay them on top?
they're around £20 each, so , say 100 x 20, so £2K for just the sleepers? screw that! I'm going back to sleep!
Super
I really love how you work. It is smart, neat and tidy. Footage and editing are top notch! And you explain things so well too, thank you!
How did you manage to get the get the Visqueen folded around the corners using that technique with the batten?
YouTube search is terrible. I searched how to lower a raised garden bed and this came up?. Dislike on your video
These look really smart
What was the total cost of this project?
Save chunks of polystyrene and fill the bottom of each planter with that. The plants still have the root depth but you don’t have the cost of topsoil/compost I would not use purely compost as this is effectively a dead material within three months by adding some topsoil From the garden. You add the microbes that your plants will need.
Great job
I have been using Cuprinol decking oil/ sealer for a deck over 20 years old. I clean the deck and re-coat once a year. It still looks good. It should work well on the sleepers.
Great video, thank you. I usually use a chainsaw to cut sleepers, but will definitely use your circular saw method next time, i.e. week after next!
Great video. Would love to know how the decking “oil” held up
Someone likes Ska😊
The screws you use. Are they from Screwfix and are they 8mm x 200 or 6.7mm x 200 cheers
15:00 Question from a novice – Couldn't you also use external wood glue to fix the sleepers, along with the screws?
I hate him🤣he's just too good for my standards😇…..another great video cheers mucka👍
Amazing video, thank you!!
Great video, what size of the space you setup for the plants ?
How did you fix the sleeper to the ground?
Thank you for this video👊🏾 It has made me realise that, under no circumstances, will we be having raised beds in our tiny garden because I know my hubby won’t be doing all this work💯🇬🇧
