Work includes gravel/concrete removal, dirt, topsoil, re-grade, dump fees, labor. No sod. I will be seeding to save on cost.
This is the largest area being done. But the backyard also has a bit smaller areas in it that will be worked on.
Quote was $2,800.

I feel like that is a great price.
I have 1100 sq foot yard done. Sod removed, graded (no soil brought in, but rather some removed), for $1,500 in north illinois
My back yard looked a lot like this besides for the big slabs. I did it myself over the course of a summer. Dug everything up, tilled 3 times and planted. It was hard as fuck but I mean its doable.
I would spend 2800 on grass seed alone.
what seed type would you be using in “Southern US”.
DO NOT SEED! You have a warm season turf, and almost all warm season turfs worth having REQUIRE sod. You can only seed a few varieties of bermuda, but most of them are junk anyway, and you’ll spend a fortune on water and keeping the weeds out anyway.
Good price? Unsure, if you’re seeding yourself in the south, it should be done at the right time and it has to be on point, otherwise you could be wasting money on seed cost and utilities .
Sod would be more appropriate. Feel like you can do all this over the course of a few months, without the stressors of seed and lay sod for the same price point. You’ll have less weeds to deal with.
If you’re firm on seeding, you should probably do this work yourself if you’re capable, just in case the seed doesn’t take, then you’ll be out the labor costs and the materials.
You should consider contacting a University in your area, specifically the Turfgrass Research and Diagnostic Center or if they have a similar department. My local university hosts seminars and also have a service where they take in samples for examination and help you from there.
Waste of money
Unfortunately I am unable to edit the post. With centipede sod, the cheapest they could get, the total would be $3,250.
I didn’t include sod originally due to a tight budget.
The random broken up concrete is so weird. Like wtf happened, it’s like a random trip hazard
That’s a great price, but don’t seed. Lay sod. Also if you don’t have it already put in irrigation
Good price. That could be a thousand pounds of concrete & gravel.. definitely doesn’t make it cheaper
