First time doing tomatos, I definitely underestimated how much the plant grows

  1. I have 4 trees now in grow bags in a border. Lost one to the storm in the uk which now seems like a blessing.

They’re growing outwards into the garden. I’ve had to tie them to stakes many times, pull any remaining suckers off and top them.

    Moneymaker tomato variety.

My first year gardening I grew tomatoes from seed. I ended up with 30 plants…30! I was frantically giving them away to anyone who would take one and still drowned in cherry tomatoes that year 😂

This is the first time I’ve grown any type of vegetable. I’m really proud of myself, though think it was due to the weather. I don’t have a greenhouse so grew them outside. I’ve plenty of tomatoes but concerned they won’t ripen as the sun seems to have left West Yorkshire. Any suggestions please?

I’d like to experiment one day with growing tomatoes hanging down instead of staked up. They grow like a vine so it should work.
