A 39-year-old Long Beach man with past felony convictions made his first appearance in court Wednesday on charges of a fiery DUI crash in Garden Grove that killed a woman nearly three years ago.
Favian Feliciano is accused of killing a 29-year-old woman in a Nov. 11, 2022, crash in the 9000 block of Garden Grove Boulevard. The victim’s name was listed only as Ariana A on the criminal complaint.
Feliciano was driving a Tesla that caught fire after it was involved in a three-car collision about 12:45 a.m., police said. Officers rescued the driver from the burning car and rushed him to a hospital in critical condition, police said.
Feliciano was charged Oct. 8 with second-degree murder, driving under the influence of a drug causing injury and buying or receiving a stolen vehicle with a prior felony for that crime, all felonies.
Feliciano also faces a sentencing enhancement for inflicting great bodily injury on another woman injured in the crash who survived.
Feliciano did not enter a plea at his arraignment Wednesday in the jail courtroom in Santa Ana. The arraignment was rescheduled for Sept. 10 in the West Justice Center in Westminster.
Feliciano has a prior conviction for taking a vehicle in March 2018 out of Los Angeles County and was convicted of burglary in May 2005 in Los Angeles County, according to the criminal complaint.
