Eastin

Rhea G. Wescovich, Golden Meadow resident and mother of Eastin, recently shared on Facebook of her son’s enjoyable experience at a local florist shop and her gratefulness for the understanding kindness of the employees that were present that day.

Her son, five year old Eastin, was on a mission to find just the right flowers to give to his therapists.  He had been involved in a summer therapy program offered to clients of Lady of the Sea Outpatient Rehabilitation Department and wanted to give each of his therapists an individual flower on his last day of therapy.

His mom, Wescovich, attempted to bring him to a supermarket to choose the type of flowers he wanted, but shopping at a supermarket for flowers was not what her son had in mind.  She said that he did not want to go inside the store, and as she stated in her post, “…he had a meltdown because he wanted to go to a REAL flower shop.”  “[T]hat’s a grocery store and not a flower shop,” Eastin said to his mom. So, the search continued.

Wescovich’s next step was to find a floral shop where a variety of individual flowers could be bought.  Uncertain if any flower shop would provide exactly what her son was determined to find, she decided to stop by Bayou Florist in Galliano.  Once inside, she explained the situation to the two workers, who were very understanding and willing to help Eastin in his search.

Wescovich stated in her post, “The two ladies were SO amazing.”  One of the workers patiently helped Eastin find just what he was looking for and gave him a tour of all of the flowers that the shop had to offer, while he shared much of his little heart with her and happily chose his flowers.  Wescovich also stated in her post that the worker who guided him through the selection of flowers “…was so patient, sweet, and kind.”

With the lady’s help, he ultimately found just what he was looking for, a specifically chosen, individual flower of a different color for each one of his therapists.  This opportunity brought Eastin tremendous joy!

In her post, Wescovich wrote, “I cannot thank Bayou Florist enough for what they did today for Eastin. They truly made his day, probably week, and he has not stopped talking about his visit to the flower shop.  He cried with excitement in the car.”

She shared, “He’s already planning his next visit.  I cried watching his excitement.  I am so thankful for the community we live in and the strangers who support each other and still do the little things.”
